Passengers who were dropped off in Erzurum after the ‘bomb’ report went to Frankfurt on another plane

An Air India plane made an emergency landing at Erzurum Airport at around 16:30 yesterday after a passenger wrote on a napkin “There is a bomb on the plane” during a Mumbai-Frankfurt flight.

Following the emergency landing of the plane, AFAD, health, police and fire teams were dispatched to the airport, 247 passengers and crew were evacuated, and a detailed search was conducted in the cabin and cargo compartment.

Passengers were safely searched and taken to the international terminal, their needs were met and they were allowed to rest. After all the suitcases and luggage belonging to the passengers in the luggage compartment of the plane were unloaded, the search operations were completed with both an X-ray device and a search dog.

As a result of all search and screening efforts completed as of 23:30 yesterday, it was determined that the bomb threat was false.

Passengers stayed in Erzurum for 25 hours

A different plane from the same company coming from India landed at Erzurum Airport at 15:40.

After the passengers hosted at international lines were boarded and the luggage was loaded, the newly arrived aircraft took off to perform the flight to Frankfurt.

The passengers, who stayed in Erzurum for about 25 hours, left the city. It was learned that the plane, which made an emergency landing yesterday, will return to India tomorrow at 06.30.
