A month ago, there were rumors that the Xiaomi will show off a triple-folding smartphone at MWC in February 2025, and now a patent published by China’s National Intellectual Property Administration has been revealed showing what it might look like.
The patent was issued in December 2022 and has remained under wraps ever since. It appears to follow the same basic design as the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate, as there is only one display that can be unfolded to be fully accessible or folded so that you only see a third of it.
The camera island here is much smaller than the one on the Mate XT, but don’t forget that this is a patent. The individual parts on the trifold smartphone have to be thin enough to keep the thickness of the device reasonable when folded, which pushes the cameras outwards leading to bulky camera islands.
Based on rumors from August, this triple will be part of the Xiaomi Mix series. However, it is not clear if this will be the new Mix Fold or a separate series.
