It will be presented during the London Design Week 2024 the collaboration with which Artek e Paul Smith have imagined new versions of some iconic furnishings from the production of Alvar AaltoThe English designer is a admirer Of long time of the Finnish designer’s production, perhaps also for this reason it was not difficult to discreetly bring his sign on some of the icons in the Scandinavian company’s catalogue.
Obviously we find the Stool 60 revised according to the aesthetics of the Stripesunmistakable sign of Smithmade by alternating 4 different wood essences for the creation of the legs of this stool. Additional detail is the Klein blue background of the seat, another trademark borrowed from fashion.
The same pattern also returns in the new version imagined for this collection of the Screen 100. Again the alternation between different wood finishes represents a decorative motif elegantbut also a way to tell Artek’s connection with this material and the forests Finnish.
Third and final piece chosen for this collaboration is the Coat Rack 109a wall coat hanger chosen from the Artek archives exclusively for this collection and declined according to the scheme used for the other pieces. All the pieces will be on display to the public in the Artek and Vitra showroom in Tramshed, from 17 September to 11 October 2024.
