PDB owes 59.5 crores to Chasik

PDB’s electricity bill arrears to government and autonomous bodies in Chittagong is more than Tk 124 crore. Among these, the highest electricity bill is owed to the Chittagong City Corporation. The outstanding amount of PDB to Chasik is 59 crore 52 lakh 86 thousand 302 taka. According to PDB data, 27 government institutions in Chittagong owe this huge amount of electricity bills.

Bangladesh Electricity Development Board Chittagong Region Assistant Director (public relations) Akbar Hossain told Azadi, Total outstanding electricity bill amount of PDB to Chittagong City Corporation is 59 crore 52 lakh 86 thousand 302 taka. Among them, the amount of outstanding bills till last August in Memon Matrisadan Hospital of City Corporation is Tk 18 lakh 44 thousand 427.

PDB officials said, In Chittagong, the names of many government organizations have appeared in the accounts of outstanding bills of the electricity department. Especially Chittagong City Corporation, the police, railway, Health Department, Housing and Public Works Department, Roads and Highways Department, public health, wasa, Forest Department, Department of Education, Water Development Board, Department of Food, Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture, PDB’s outstanding bills amount to 124 crore 65 lakh 7 thousand 113 rupees in numerous public and autonomous institutions including the Ministry of Public Administration.

According to PDB data, Out of the outstanding bills available in Chittagong government offices, 3 crore 35 lakh 10 taka 7 is owed to the railways. In the last 6 months, electricity bills of Tk 1 crore 58 lakh are due in the CRB office of the heads of various departments of the Eastern Railway alone. In addition, 8 crore 13 lakh 32 thousand 21 taka is owed to various institutions of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health 4 crore 85 lakh 22 thousand 24, 1 crore 50 lakh 25 thousand 597 crore in public works department, 1 crore 29 lakhs in Chittagong Medical College, 68 lakh 47 thousand 229 in road and highway department, 5 crore 73 lakh 25 thousand 968 in public health, 19 lakh 41 thousand 265 in Chittagong Wasa, 10 lakh 4 thousand 407 in forest department, 70 lakh 30 thousand 122 in education department, 70 thousand 325 is owed to the Water Development Board and 95 lakh 99 thousand 797 to the Food Department.

The concerned engineers of PDB said, In the new electricity law, now the monthly bill has to be paid every month. There is an instruction to disconnect the electricity bill if one month is due. According to an executive engineer of PDB, magistracy has been given the power to collect fines including disconnection of connections in the new electricity law. He tells Azadi, We are conducting regular operations to collect outstanding electricity bills. Disconnecting. Collecting the fine.
