Pedro Nuno Santos says he is “optimistic” about the negotiations on the State Budget for 2025. In an interview with the NOW television channel this Wednesday, the PS leader says he is available to “give in to a large extent” and believes that the government will also make concessions so that the two parties can meet.
“The Government does not have an absolute majority and this has consequences. A relative majority requires negotiations”, added Pedro Nuno Santos.
However, the socialist leader clarified that he is not afraid of going to elections if the Budget is not approved. “I am not afraid of going to elections,” said the PS secretary-general, who placed the responsibility for making the State Budget viable on the executive.
Earlier, in the State of the Nation debate, the IRC issue was in focus, but Pedro Nuno Santos assured that concessions on this issue may not be enough to lead the PS to approve the document.
“It is not a measure that makes up the State Budget”, clarified the PS secretary general.
