Slovak President Peter Pellegrini appointed three new members of the Judicial Council. Zuzana Čížová, Martin Puchalla and Adrián Kucek became the nominees for the head of state in the Judicial Council.
“I wish the new members of the Judicial Council to contribute to the high-quality performance of the independent judiciary and to increase people’s trust in the Slovak judiciary,” said Peter Pellegrini.
On Monday, the President of the Slovak Republic dismissed two members of the Judicial Council, Lucia Berdisová and Tomáš Gábriš, who were nominated by President Zuzana Čaputová. Its third nominee until now, Lajos Meszáros, expired on June 18, 2024.
JUDr. Zuzana Čížová has 24 years of legal experience, the last 20 years she has been working as a lawyer. She is a member of the presidency of the Slovak Bar Association, served as a member and assessor of the disciplinary panels of judges.
JUDr. Martin Puchalla, PhD. He has 19 years of legal experience, works as a lawyer and president of the Slovak Bar Association. He is a representative of the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic in selection committees for judges.
JUDr. Adrián Kucek has been working as a lawyer for 15 years, he is the chairman of the disciplinary panel of the Slovak Bar Association.
