Retirement decisions for applications submitted since September 1 could not be issued to date because the computer system is still producing errors. However, the director of the Pensions Office communicated that they work automatically and that the money will be paid retroactively.
Pensions from December 2024. 200,000 pensioners could benefit from two pensions in December. The officials of the House of Pensions they also clarified why seniors will collect more money.
The retirees who find themselves in this situation are those who have not yet obtained the settlement. If their files were resolved by the end of November, as the pension house claims, in December at least 200,000 pensioners could receive two pensions, the one for the current month and the outstanding ones.
At the same time, all the people who signed up for the pension on September 1 are not getting their money because they don’t have the software. These people risk not getting their money until February.
Many had their employment contracts terminated and ended up penniless. Since September 1, pensions have increased, on average, by 620 lei.
Regarding the problems of Romanians who requested a pension under the new law and have not yet received a decision, Daniel Baciu offered explanations exclusively for Romania TV viewers:
“We have files, the new beneficiaries have applied for the pension. Here we have to find urgent solutions to receive their pension rights. We set up a task force at the Pension House – specialists from the territorial pension houses, specialists from the maintenance company. From Monday, this task force begins its duties. We are starting to test the new computer program that calculates the pensions of those who have requested this right starting on September 1. We have a week to complete these tests. We are testing the more complex, more difficult files, so that after completing this testing process, which is not easy at all, the computer program can be put into production and we can start calculating the pensions of those who submitted the files starting on September 1. Let’s hope that in the next period people will receive their pension rights”.
Promising news for pensioners in Romania!
Simona Bucura-Oprescu, the Minister of Labor, made this announcement on Sunday evening, on Romania TV.
Simona Bucura-Oprescu also spoke about the payment of pensions for the month of December. She wanted to specify that also this month the pensions will be paid on time, respectively starting from December 2 for people who receive their pension by mail and December 12 for those who receive their pension in a bank account.
The minister communicated, first of all, that pensioners will be able to benefit from a new increase in January 2025, in accordance with the legal provisions in force.
Simona Bucura-Oprescu detailed that, according to the law, pensions are indexed annually during January, following the removal of the threshold of 9.4% of GDP, which would have meant freezing the rights of the elderly for a long period of time.
More precisely, according to the Minister of Labor, the value of the pension point will increase in January 2025 by more than 12%, from 81 lei to approximately 91 lei. This automatically implies an increase in rights, as the pension is calculated by multiplying the total number of points in the retirement decision with the new value of the pension point.
Beneficiaries of the minimum pension will also benefit from this increase, which will go from 1,281 lei to 1,414 lei, writes Rtv.
