The arrival of Barcelona in Belgrade was definitely the event of the year for Serbia, and the atmosphere in the stands was one of a story, even if the Spaniards prevailed without problems, 5-2.
The impresario Florin Iacob told us that more than 2,000 Romanians were present in the stands in Belgrade to watch stars like Lewandowski and Yamal.
Barcelona unleash madness in Belgrade for match of the year: “There were over 60,000 spectators!”
Red Star has a stadium with a capacity of just over 50,000 seats, but the arrival of Barcelona sparked the frenzy in Belgrade.
The stadium was filled tens of minutes before the starting whistle, and the fans did everything to be able to witness a match that represents a lifetime memory.
In addition, the scenography created throughout the stadium made “waves” in Europe as well, with the press in Spain also being impressed by the superb spectatorship in the stands.
“The atmosphere was very nice at the match in Serbia! Barcelona had no supporters in their gallery sector, so it was able to go to full capacity in Belgrade. Therefore, there were no incidents, but there were over 60,000 spectators. Something absolutely incredible, absolutely unreal. There were a lot of people who saw the match from the access stairs, so it went over capacity”, revealed Florin Iacob, for ProSport.
“I think there were over 2,000 Romanians at the match between Steaua Roșie and Barcelona. The average was 80 euros per ticket, but there were enough fans who paid 300 euros to enter the match. I returned on Thursday at noon, but I know precisely that there were Romanians who stayed at the border for two and a half hours to enter Romania”, continued Iacob, referring to the superb atmosphere in the stands.
Steaua Roșie, far above the top teams in the Superliga: “They give contracts of one and a half million euros!”
Although he took five goals from Barcelona’s starsFlorin Iacob is convinced that Steaua Roșie is at a much higher level than the top teams in Romania.
In fact, Silas, the footballer who managed to equalize in the gala match in Belgrade (1-1) was loaned by Red Star from the Bundesliga, from Stuttgart. Last season, the striker played 27 matches and scored five goals for Ciprian Marica’s former team.
Zvezda’s next home match is against Stuttgart, but the enthusiasm will probably not be high, especially since the Serbians are as if eliminated from the Champions League.
“The world was not upset, it was seen that the difference between the teams is too big. I was happy to see top footballers at work. Yamal is absolutely brilliant with the ball at his feet and Lewandowski and Raphinha delight you. They know the value of Barcelona, they know the length of their nose. But know that Steaua Roșie offers contracts of up to one and a half million euros. Definitely, they are a club above the Superliga, even above FCSB”, concluded Iacob.
