Unspeakable devastation in Spain from the deadly floods that occurred in Valencia that have claimed the lives of 205 people so far, while the number of missing remains unknown.
More specifically, as the days pass, it becomes more difficult to find survivors in Valencia and the surrounding areas from the deadly floods that hit Spain on Tuesday (10/29/2024) and Wednesday (10/30/2024).
Fears are expressed that there are people who remain trapped in damaged vehicles or in flooded houses and garages, while according to skynews the mayor of the city of Alfafar in Valencia, which has been affected by the floods, pointed out that “there are people who live with corpses at home”!
Regarding the lack of food, he said that “it is very sad. We organize, but we run out of everything. We go in trucks to Valencia, buy and come back, but here we are completely forgotten.”
A resident of the same city described the situation as a “disaster”, as he said: “There are many elderly people who do not have medicine. There are children who don’t have food. We have no milk, we have no water. We have no access to anything. No one even came to warn us on the first day.”
Cars have been piled on top of each other, homes and businesses have been swept away, trees have been uprooted, and roads and bridges have been destroyed. “Unfortunately, there are dead people inside some vehicles,” said Spain’s Transport Minister Oscar Puente.
In the La Torre area of Valencia, nine bodies were discovered inside a garage, with a local policeman among the victims.
Luis Sanchez, a welder, said he rescued several people from flooding on the V-31 highway south of the city of Valencia.
“I saw bodies floating. I shouted, but nothing, The firemen got the old people first, when they were able to get inside. I’m from around there so I tried to help and save people. People were crying everywhere, they were trapped”, he pointed out.
