The storm on the shores of Lake Balaton hasn’t calmed down since the horrific price invoice issued by the Rege pastry shop went viral. The Tihany Abátsági Rege Cukrászda boasts a sumptuous view, but this time Hungarians are not talking about it, but about the shockingly high prices.

The final bill was HUF 48,218, which included the service fee of HUF 6,000.
The guests who sparked the scandal ate stuffed bunda bread, vegan toast, iced coffee, lemonade and water. Netizens were mostly outraged by the fact that the prices are not listed on the website of the Rege pastry shop. According to others, it is unnecessary to create hysteria, since anyone who goes into a restaurant or cafe first looks at the menu and the drink list, so they know what to expect, concluded the Promotions.
Many people think that uploading the bill to the social network was only good to damage the reputation of the restaurant and generate trouble.
According to the newspaper, Abátsági Rege Cukrászda is now in serious trouble, because overwhelming popular anger has poured down on them on their social media page, people are besieging the restaurant in Tihany with vehement words of hate.
Of course, the operators of Cukrászda’s Facebook page keep hiding hateful comments, but Promotions managed to catch a few:
“Why are there no prices on the menu and drink menu on the pastry shop’s website? In my opinion, providing the consumer with advance information is now basic. I’m waiting for your kind reply”
“1 glass of water is only HUF 700…the block is included!”
“Zabál Hungarian, let yourself be robbed”
“They still have the guts to post their expensive meals while they’re up to their necks in the snow”
“They should be ashamed to operate with such prices!”
After the scandal broke out, the paper tried to contact the restaurant by letter to ask what they think about the situation, but they have not yet received an answer.
