Pepper spray sprayed in Aprica nightclub on New Year’s Eve: 300 people evacuated

The police are now trying to identify those responsible through the premises’ video surveillance cameras. The anger of the managers: “Unfortunately there are still people like this in the world, who don’t know how to have fun and only want to cause damage”

Three hundred people evacuated on New Year’s Eve at the Charlie nightclub in Aprica (Sondrio), after someone sprayed pepper spray in the middle of the dance floor. With lots of pushing and panic among the frightened crowd trying to leave the venue.

It happened after the midnight celebrations, around 3.30am on January 1st. Two girls were treated on site for mild symptoms such as malaise, burning and watery eyes, cough and nausea. Fortunately, none of those present needed to be transported to hospital.

“Unfortunately there are still people like that in the world, who don’t know how to have fun and they just want to cause damage. Thank you for your patience with the early release. Tomorrow we will recover by partying together, as always”, the managers of the Charlie nightclub wrote on the club’s social networks this morning.

In the meantime, investigations are underway by the Sondrio carabinieri, who are examining video surveillance cameras of the nightclub to identify the perpetrators of the gesture.
