Performance Monster MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Officially Introduced

MediaTek today announced the Dimensity 9400, its flagship chipset with a powerful and better-than-ever graphics unit. The device comes with integrated AI chip and is packed with the latest technology including new ISP, NPU and improved power efficiency.

The processor is manufactured by TSMC using the 3nm process (N3E) manufacturing process, which further improves performance and efficiency.

The architecture of the processor is stated as 1+3+4. The super performance core is Cortex-X925 and runs at 3.63 GHz followed by 3 Cortex-X4 cores with a maximum frequency of 3.3 GHz. For efficiency, it also has four Cortex-A720 cores running at 2.4GHz.

According to MediaTek, along with the clock speed increase, the new Dimensity 9400 offers a 15% increase in IPC (Instructions Per Cycle), which gives you a 35% improvement in single-core performance and 28% improvement in multi-cores.

The graphics unit is Immortalis-G925, which was announced earlier this year. It operates at a frequency of 1612 MHz and promises 41% performance improvement, 40% faster ray tracing performance and 44% power savings.

The AI is driven by NPU 890, which should consume 35% less energy than its predecessor. In terms of artificial intelligence features, the processor provides better power efficiency in 100x zoom and 4K@60 FPS video shooting.

The Imagiq 1090 ISP is supposed to deliver HDR video capture across the entire zoom range, which means changing zoom levels and lenses without changing video quality.

Dimensity 9400 is the first chipset on the market to support the latest 10.7 Gbps LPDDR5X RAM. It also offers a 100% increase in L2 cache and a 50% increase in L3 cache.

The new processor is expected to be introduced first with the OPPO Find X8 series.
