Sales of passenger cars have increased in St. Petersburg. Over the year, the volume increased by 37%, writes the newspaper “Kommersant».
The media notes that last year 54,783 cars were registered as sold, and for the entire 2024 the figure may rise to 75 thousand units. There are no exact statistics yet.
At the same time, the newspaper notes that even such a high result for 2024 will be significantly lower than the level of 2021, when sales amounted to 91,376 cars.
Experts quoted by the publication report that the increase in sales was made possible thanks to information about an increase in import duties from April 1 and lucrative offers from dealers who were selling last year’s cars. In addition, sales were also accelerated by an increase in recycling fees and an increase in loan rates. At the same time, in November 2024, a decrease in demand was recorded – sales fell by 3.7% compared to the same period in 2023 and by 30% compared to October.
