Stellantis Motorsport has prepared a new racing version of the Peugeot 208, with the announcement that this 208 Racing represents an accessible entry point into the world of motor sports.

This model has been exclusively designed for the FR6 Trophy, a new series organized by the Federation Francaise du Sport Automobile (FFSA). It will be part of the French Rally Cup starting in 2025, and Stellantis is the first manufacturer to join.

The rally car is based on a restyled 208 and adds a set of white steel wheels, green accents and graphics on a white body.

The interior features a roll cage and an automatic fire extinguishing system, both compliant with Rally4 regulations. The dashboard is “optimized” to avoid reflections and has a multi-function display and customized controls on the center console.

To develop the 208 Racing, Stellantis Motorsport used its expertise from the Peugeot 208 Rally4, Citroen C3 Rally2 and the 208 Racing Cup. Under the hood is an improved version of the 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline turbo engine, with 107 kW/145 hp. This is 45 hp more than the production Peugeot 208, but 67 hp less than the 208 Rally4 version.

Weighing just 1,050 kg, the car has front-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission.

The engine runs exclusively on superethanol-E85 fuel, which is said to reduce CO2 emissions by around 30 percent compared to gasoline.

Stellantis Motorsport engineers also tuned the suspension and braking system using feedback from professional racing drivers. Finally, standard Michelin Pilot Sport PS5 tires contribute to lower maintenance costs.

The 208 Racing costs 38,900 euros before tax, which is much cheaper than the 208 Rally4 version. Stellantis has already started taking orders and expects deliveries to begin in February 2025.
