DAPURPACUID – Last week, the Periklindo EV Conference (PEVC) 2024 was held and successfully took place at the Intercontinental Bali Resort, Bali, 12-13 September.
Carrying the theme ‘EVolution REVolution on Technology, Consumers, and the Road to Sustainability’, Periklindo (Indonesian Electric Vehicle Industry Association) has presented 20 speakers as resource persons.
The speakers, who are practitioners from various sectors, shared their insights with participants about the future of electric vehicles in the world and Indonesia in particular.
The aim is to bring together industry experts and key stakeholders to discuss the latest developments in electric vehicle technology, consumer adoption, and sustainability efforts in Indonesia’s electric vehicle ecosystem.
Chairman of Periklindo, General TNI (ret.) Dr. H. Moeldoko, SIP, MA said that electric vehicles are the key to achieving a sustainable mobility future in Indonesia.
According to him, the development of electric vehicles in Indonesia today deserves appreciation, one of which is thanks to the government’s policy which is committed to strengthening the ecosystem of this product as part of the clean energy transition and reducing carbon emissions.
PEVC 2024, he continued, is a platform that brings together industry players, government, investors and academics to discuss existing challenges and opportunities.
“At the same time, we are looking for the best way to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicle technology in various sectors,” added Moeldoko, in his written statement, Sunday (15/9).
“We hope that this conference can be a productive forum that facilitates the exchange of ideas and cross-country collaboration that is beneficial for the electric vehicle ecosystem, in order to realize a strong, sustainable and profitable industry for all parties.”
Prof. CC Chan, who also attended the conference and was appointed as the keynote speaker, explained that the mobility revolution is not only about technological advancement, but also about changing the way we view freedom and happiness in transportation.
If previously mobility had provided ‘freedom’, he said, but produced pollution that damaged the environment, now we are entering an era where vehicles bring freedom and happiness.
For the man known as the ‘Father of Asian Electric Vehicles’, electric vehicles are not only pollution-free, but also leverage smart technology and connectivity, making mobility free, happy and enjoyable.
“Currently, China is a leader in the development of electric vehicles, and the world, including Indonesia, can be an inspiration to develop electric vehicles as smart vehicles that support smart cities and smart societies,” he said.
The selection of Bali as the conference location also demonstrates the Indonesian Government’s strong commitment to supporting sustainability and environmental preservation on the island.
At the same time, making the Island of the Gods a model for implementing greener mobility, which can be adopted in other regions or areas in Indonesia.
On the other hand, Bali Island is also widely known as an area that upholds harmony between nature and modern development, where it is considered to be the most visited point for foreign and domestic tourists.
Electric Vehicle Development Discussion
Throughout the two-day conference, there were three major topics raised by the speakers, which were relevant to the current development of the EV industry, including:
• Pilar I: Battery Technologies and Charging Infrastructure
This pillar discusses innovations in battery technology and the development of charging infrastructure that support the acceleration of electric vehicle adoption. The session includes three in-depth discussions and concludes with a panel discussion.
• Pilar II: Vehicle Innovation and Consumer Adoption
This pillar focuses on electric vehicle innovation, user experience, and strategies to accelerate consumer adoption. Participants can explore vehicle technology innovations that address market needs and consumer trends.
• Pilar III: The Future of Mobility and Sustainability
This pillar highlights the future of sustainable mobility, how electric vehicles contribute to the global sustainability vision, and Indonesia’s important role in leading the transition to environmentally friendly transportation.
Each pillar consists of three discussion sessions featuring expert speakers from within and outside the country, and ends with a discussion panel.
This collaboration shows how all parties take the initiative to work together to realize Indonesia as a leader in the field of sustainable mobility and electric vehicle technology.
Periklindo hopes that this event will provide a significant contribution to Indonesia. Understanding the importance of this platform, Periklindo also hopes that this event will become an annual event. (dpid/TH)
