PGR investigates case of forged signatures by Tiago Mayan

The Public Ministry (MP) opened an investigation into the case of forged signatures by Tiago Mayan, from the Liberal Initiative. The news was advanced to Renaissance by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR).

“Following public news related to the matter in question, it is confirmed that the Public Prosecutor’s Office has decided to open an investigation to investigate the facts, which is directed by the DIAP of Porto”, says the PGR.

At issue is the forgery of signatures by the then president of the council of the union of parishes of Foz, Aldoar and Nevogilde, in Porto, Tiago Mayan, to access the Support Fund for Portuense Associativism.

The case became known on November 8, when Tiago Mayan admitted that he had forged the signatures of the jury of the Portuense Associativism Support Fund.

At issue are minutes of the jury meeting of the Portuense Associativism Support Fund, dated September 16, which would have been prepared and falsified by Tiago Mayan.

Following the controversy, Tiago Mayan resigned as president of the board of the union of parishes of Foz, Aldoar and Nevogilde.

The Liberal Initiative activist and former candidate for President of the Republic also withdrew his candidacy for party leadership and is undergoing a disciplinary process, which could end in expulsion.

Tiago Mayan guarantees that he never appropriated any resources. “The events that led to my dismissal did not in any way serve my personal benefit. I want to make it very clear that I have never, in any way, appropriated any resources and that my objective has always been to allow the associations that benefit from these resources not to be harmed by any procedural failures, as well as ensuring the execution of their projects in service to the population and public interest”, said Tiago Mayan in a written letter sent to Lusa.
