Philippe Berlan, CEO of La Redoute, is leaving his position at the end of July. While the name of his successor has not yet been announced, the brand will be managed on an interim basis by its executive committee.
At the end of July, the general director of La Redoute, Philippe Berlan will leave his position after 12 years with the company and two years in this position. This departure comes two years after that of Nathalie Balla and Eric Courteille, who bought the e-retailer for a symbolic euro from Kering and took charge of restructuring the iconic online fashion brand, founded in 1837. In a press release, the company states that Philippe Berlan “will have played a strategic role in the transformation of La Redoute”The exact reason for his departure is not yet known. In the daily economic media Les Echos, there is talk of a new “challenge” and a return to Paris.

A booming business
As a reminder, La Redoute.fr ranks third in the ranking of e-commerce sites for home decoration purchases in France. The brand’s national turnover is represented at 90% for online sales, the rest comes from its 9 own stores and 50 corners within Galeries Lafayette. The e-tailer currently has 8.8 million active customers in the 20 countries where it operates.

Last April, La Redoute Intérieurs joined the Leroy Merlin marketplace. Around 15,000 references (furniture, bed linen, decoration and lighting) were then added to the Leroy Merlin platform, which already has 4 million in the world of DIY and home. With 40 million visits per month, the marketplace should allow e-retailers to further boost their visibility.
