Philips Hue now has a long-awaited handy feature: Do Not Disturb

Philips Hue has released a new feature for its motion sensors. You use these sensors to automatically turn your smart lights on and off based on detected movements. But sometimes you don’t want that and that’s why there is now a new option.

The new Do Not Disturb My Scene feature had previously surfaced in a test version under Hue Labs, but Philips Hue discontinued that component in June. The Do Not Disturb feature was released in the Hue app this week. The feature can be used with the Hue motion sensor, the outdoor sensor and the motion detector of the Hue Secure security cameras.

When you activate the function, the motion detector will only react if all lights in the room or zone are switched off. If you have already selected a scene or switched on a light, the sensor will no longer react to detected movement. For example, if you are enjoying an evening in front of the TV on the couch, you do not have to worry about lights being switched on or off by movement with this new option.

Just search in the settings

The new feature is quite hidden in the settings in the Philips Hue app. Go to Settings, Accessories, then the sensor and select a time period under ‘Behavior’ and then enable ‘Do not disturb’. The option is available for every time slot.

Philips Hue added the feature with a server update, but according to Hueblog it is possible that not all Hue users see it yet. The rollout will be gradual. In any case, you must have the Hue Bridge update 1966117030 installed.
