The Styrian highway between Blagovica and Lukovica towards Ljubljana was paralyzed by a burning vehicle, the road has been closed for almost 7 hours. There was a long traffic jam between Vranski and Lukovica, the tunnels are occasionally closed for safety reasons. A truck with a trailer was completely burnt in the incident, but no one was injured. On the Styrian highway, the overtaking lane in the Trojane tunnel towards Maribor is closed due to an accident. There is a deadlock. On the coastal highway, the slow lane in front of Logatec towards Koper is closed due to a vehicle breakdown. Due to the damaged carriageway, the Kanal-Lig-Mišček-Neblo road between Britof and Mišček is closed. It is expected that until the end of September, the Šentvid import from Celovška cesta towards Kosez will be closed on the Gorenje highway due to works. Due to the event, the Domžale-Šentjakob road in Domžale will be closed until midnight on Saturday.
There is also a longer traffic jam on the parallel regional road between Vranski and Lukovica. A detour for private vehicles is possible via Tuhinjska dolina or Zasavje, reports the traffic information center.
The police were informed about the incident on the Styrian highway near Kompolje in the direction of Ljubljana at around 12 o’clock. As explained by the Ljubljana Police Administration, the trailer caught fire due to a so far unexplained cause, and the fire spread to the towing vehicle as well. Both were completely burnt. The driver or other persons were not injured in the incident.
Firefighters intervened and extinguished the fire, and the removal of the consequences of the event is still ongoing. The police have conducted an inspection and are continuing to gather information about all the circumstances and the cause of the fire. All findings will be reported to the competent state prosecutor’s office.
Traffic jams also occur elsewhere in Slovenia. On the coastal highway, the slow lane in front of Logatec towards Koper is closed due to a vehicle breakdown.
