A plane crashed in Prekmurje today at noon. According to unofficial information, several people are said to have died.
As confirmed by PU Murska Sobota, at approximately 12 o’clock, a plane crash took place near the soccer field in Gančani. According to initial findings, a smaller plane crashed. The competent services immediately went to the place and are still conducting the inspection. More official information will be known after the inspection of the accident site is over, the police explained.
In the meantime, the local portal Vestnik.si reports that, according to their information, the accident claimed several lives, including Pomurci. The accident is said to have been caused by poor visibility due to fog. The plane was supposed to take off shortly after 11 a.m. from the Maribor airport, where they had sunny weather, but in Prekmurje they were then met by dense fog. The chief investigator of aviation accidents in Slovenia also went to the scene of the accident. According to the portal’s latest information, at least three Pomurci people died in the accident. The flight was supposed to be a birthday present.

Meanwhile, according to STA, the representative of the Aviation Center Maribor, Vili Kolar, confirmed to Radio Maribor that it was their plane. “We saw in the flight plan that the plane took off from us at 11 a.m. We were informed about the news by others, but air traffic control could not tell us because the plane was outside the control area of Maribor.” he explained.
