Volunteer firefighters from Kostanjevica na Karst and professional firefighters from the Novi Gori professional unit fought a burning shack yesterday morning in the village of Lipa.
According to unofficial information, the owner lit the stove in the shack and left, reports Primorske novice. By the time the firefighters arrived, the approximately 30-square-meter partially brick, partially wooden shack was completely engulfed in flames, so the firefighters only extinguished the blaze.
There were also nine gas cylinders in the shack, some empty and some full, which did not explode despite the high temperature, although some were already glowing when the firemen arrived. Some were rescued immediately after the fire started, some were found only after the fire was brought under control.
According to Primorske novic, the fire destroyed all the junk inside, and unfortunately also killed some chickens and a dog. He was said to be locked up in a shack. The police informed the Novi Gore district court about the fire, and they will send a report to the prosecutor’s office.
