Photos and video of Aleksi in Bucharest during the BSBSA project

Discover the photos and video featuring the Bulgarian artist Alexi Ivanov and guides you through his creative process in making a new artistic intervention for the program BSBSA (Belgrade Sofia Bucharest Street Art).

During his seven-day visit, the multidisciplinary artist Alexi Ivanovoriginally from Varna and settled in Sofia, created a mural impressive and hosted a atelier of street art, followed by a artist talk with the artist, in Bucharest.

During the workshop and discussion with the artist, participants asked questions and received advice and learned techniques from an artist with extensive experience in public space interventions.

The mural titled “Tales” is a visual representation of the common folklore of the Balkan region, focusing mainly on the rich traditions of Romania, Bulgaria and Serbia. The work depicts characters such as Karakondzul / Kallikantzaros, Lesnik / Leshy, Rusalka, Simargl, The Flyer, Ala / Hala, The Giant and Orpheus, along with vampires, dragons, bikers and graffers. To add even more diversity to the artwork, Aleksi referenced Bucharest’s graffiti scene, including an IVA subway with throw-ups by Mser and Erps. One of his characters wears a golden necklace with an Aeul pendant.

In this sense, the mural offers viewers a broad perspective that combines many subjects and themes, resulting in a unique interpretation for each individual.

This approach ambitious required seven days of intense work, on some days the artist worked 10 or even 14 hours. Aleksi’s dedication is evident in the mural painted in Bucharest, which is a testament to his vision and techniques.

We invite you to explore the city and discover this fabulous work of art, kindly hosted by the Owners’ Association on Bulevardul Mihai Bravu, no. 75/83, Block C17, sector 2, Bucharest, Romania.
