Pinboard Pinterest disappointed on Thursday with its fourth-quarter forecasts. The image-sharing platform is facing stiff competition from the likes of Meta owner Facebook and Instagram.
Pinterest predicts that turnover in the fourth quarter will be between 1.13 billion and 1.15 billion. Analysts had expected more.
The third quarter was good, helped by robust advertising spend. Turnover grew 18 percent year on year, net profit amounted to 31 million, EBITDA to 904 million.
The number of monthly active users climbed to 537 million, 11 percent more than a year ago.
Europe still represents a very modest share of sales, with 157 million sales, compared to 719 million in the US and Canada.
