Pixies praise their “wonderful” new bassist Emma Richardson

The duo from Pixies, Joey Santiago i Dave Loveringpraised the band’s new bassist, Emma Richardson.

New album Pixies, The Night The Zombies Camewas just released, and Classic Rock magazine described it as an album of songs polished to perfection. This band’s tenth album features Richardson on bass guitar for the first time, after replacing Paz Lenchantin at the beginning of the year.

Guitarist Santiago and drummer Lovering said she was a former member Band of SkullsRichardson, took the band to a new level. Lovering told NME that the new line-up is “fantastic” and added: “Emma is a real pleasure. She plays great, sings great and we all play better because of her. We are definitely on another level.”

Santiago revealed that they came to Richardson thanks to the album’s producer, Tom Dalgety. “Emma is simply a different animal. When I found out he was coming, a friend and I watched the footage Band of Skulls. I thought: ‘I’ve had enough of this – I know she can play, let’s see the interviews’.” I saw the interviews and thought: ‘Nice, she’s cultured’… she’s great. She has a great voice, she has mastered the bass language that we need.”
