The Judiciary Police, through the Leiria Criminal Investigation Department, following an ongoing investigation, which began in March of this year, identified, located and detained a 26-year-old man, heavily indicted for the crimes of aggravated pornography of minors and sexual coercion.
"Digital predator" pretended to be a 15-year-old teenager
The events occurred at the end of 2023, when the victim, an 11-year-old child, started contacting the suspect via WhatsApp, and later, via Snapchat.
The digital predator, posing as a 15-year-old teenager, requested photos of the child's private parts, but when the minor refused, he threatened her and started demanding video content, which was sent to her.
The child's mother, after viewing the contents on her daughter's cell phone, filed a complaint. The investigative measures allowed the collection of indicative elements, as well as the identification and location of the suspect, residing in the Tondela area.
Search and arrest warrants were issued and these were carried out, resulting in the police action seizing computer media with high storage capacity, which will be the subject of computer forensics.
The detainee was presented to the competent judicial authorities of the District of Santarém, for the first judicial interrogation, and the coercive measure of preventive detention was applied to him.
