Play will allow apps to launch automatically after installation

  • If a running application is updated, it will be suspended
  • Google is introducing an option to automatically launch an application that solves this problem
  • We are concerned about misuse or unnecessary load on the phone

Google is releasing a feature in the Play Store that will allow applications to run immediately after installation. During the installation, you will be notified that the application will start automatically. The user has the option to disable it, but only for each installation separately.

It’s unclear which apps will be able to use this. It makes sense for system applications, but how will games, for example, behave? We can’t imagine the process of restoring a phone, where dozens of applications are installed, if every other one had this behavior enabled. The user would have to be alert all the time and disable autostart for all applications, otherwise the phone would be completely unusable.

Note that there is only a Cancel option for the notification, ie Cancelno Disable (prohibit). This would mean that every subsequent update could open the app automatically. Time will tell if this is a smart idea. It makes sense for applications such as backups, where after updating my favorite Folder Sync Pro app, I always go without backups for a few days before I notice it has updated and isn’t running.

On the contrary, we are concerned about games or malicious applications that could infiltrate the phone even more easily.

How do you feel about auto-launching apps?
