PlayStation 5 now generates a unique audio profile

In the new update of the console, everyone can do the personalized surround sound.

Sony has released system update 24.06 for the PlayStation 5 family of consoles, which has made an initially promised feature available. At the presentation of the console generation, the Japanese company already talked about how the optimization of the surround sound could be customized, since the outer ear plays the most important role in the spatial detection of sound sources, and its shape may differ between individuals.

The PlayStation 5 factory used a default HRTF (head-related transfer function) that was almost good for most ear shapes; it describes how sound changes as a function of direction and frequency. However, this did not give everyone a perfect experience, so the new update allows you to create an individually generated HRTF.

To do this, all the user has to do is to put on his headphones, then run a test tailored to this and tell the machine from which part of the room he hears the sound. The console records the data and, according to the received information, prepares the unique HRTF that ensures surround sound in a form suitable for the given ear shape.
