Months of leaks and dozens of theories about a more powerful version of the PlayStation 5 Pro are finally a thing of the past. Sony during the special technical presentations officially introduced the more powerful console PlayStation 5 Pro. According to PS5 Pro chief architect Mark Cerna, the new console focuses on three key elements: larger and more powerful GPU, advanced ray tracing a custom upscaling controlled by artificial intelligence.
In the nearly ten-minute video, we learned not only the appearance of the new console, but also its more detailed specifications, together with a comparison of the basic PlayStation 5, as well as the price. The new console offers 67% more compute units and has 28% faster memory, which should ultimately make games render 45% faster without losing visual fidelity to players.

To the improved performance, Sony has added improved ray tracing and its own PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) upscaling technology, which can improve the amount of detail thanks to artificial intelligence and machine learning. After all, Sony demonstrated this technology in a video on games such as The Last of Us Par II, Spider-Man or Hogwarts Legacy.
Sony also provided the new console with the PS5 Pro Game Boost function, the aim of which is to stabilize and improve the performance of more than 8,500 backward compatible titles from games released on the PlayStation 4 and the basic PlayStation 5. Connectivity, namely Wi-Fi 7, VRR support, was also updated with the update and up to 8K resolution. The PlayStation 5 Pro gets 2TB of storage and loses the drive (it can be purchased separately).
In order to take full advantage of the PS5 Pro’s new features and performance, developers will need to bring slightly modified versions of their games to players in free updates. These games will receive the designation PS5 Pro Enhanced and already include titles such as Alan Wake 2, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Demon’s Souls, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Gran Turismo 7, Hogwarts Legacy, Horizon Forbidden West, Marvel’s Spider- Man 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, The Crew Motorfest, The First Descendant or The Last of Us Part II.
