PlayStation 6 Is Again in the Hand of AMD

The development we will talk about is not new, Sony launched a PlayStation 6 processor supply tender in 2022, in which Intel and AMD participated, and as a result, Intel lost.

Sony has declined to comment on the matter (as is normal), because it is too early to talk about the PlayStation 6 and any possible comment could complicate the future of the device. AMD has not made a statement either, but Intel has made a comment on the matter:

“We strongly disagree with this news, but we will not comment on current or potential customer conversations. We have a very healthy customer pipeline in both our product and casting business, and we are focused on innovating to meet their needs.”

It is only natural that AMD won the tender because if Intel had won, backward compatibility would have been really difficult (take the PS4 generation as an example) and this would have caused a serious decrease in the category of games to be released for the PS6 and high costs.

Despite all these rumors, as we said at the beginning, it is still too early to talk about the PlayStation 6, so it seems like we will continue to get more information.
