One year after the release, we can already stream games from the cloud, although not all of them yet.
This time last year, Sony came up with a completely unusual concept, returning to the recently increasingly lively market of handheld consoles with a device that only ran games installed on our PlayStation 5 console through Remote Play technology. Users have come to terms with the fact that it cannot natively handle the PlayStation Portal the games, but the lack of streaming from the cloud created confusion.
Sony wants to change this now, as it has announced that the cloud streaming function will be launched in Europe today, after it was introduced overseas yesterday, only as a beta. It is important to know that we can only use it if we have a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription, in which case we have access to a catalog of more than 120 streamable games.
Among others, Dave the Diver, Ghost of Tsushima, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Monster Hunter Rise and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart can be tested without having to turn on the PlayStation 5. In theory, Sony’s solution offers 1080p and 60 fps, but our internet connection primarily determines what we will actually experience. At least 13 Mbps is required for 1080p resolution, but 7 Mbps can be enough for 720p.
The update that brings cloud streaming also gives users more freedom in terms of sound settings, the details you can find it here.
