Playstation is to be congratulated and, as it celebrates its 30th anniversary, Sony has launched a series of initiatives, as we revealed here.
Sony announced, through the Blog Oficial da PlayStationthe launch of the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection, which includes a series of limited edition PlayStation 5 family products that unite the brand's past and present, paying homage to PlayStation's 30-year history, since the launch of its first console on December 3, 1994. This exclusive collection brings with it new designs for hardware products in the PlayStation 5 family, including the console itself, inspired by the aesthetics of the brand's first console.
The PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection will be sold in highly limited quantities in the following options:
- PlayStation 5 Pro Console – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle: Includes the PlayStation 5 Pro console with 2TB SSD, Wi-Fi 7, DualSense wireless controller, DualSense Edge wireless controller, DualSense charging dock, and a disc drive cover (disc drive sold separately). The bundle also includes a vertical stand and special collector’s items, including a cable connector inspired by the original PlayStation controller, four cable ties featuring PlayStation icons, a sticker, a limited edition PlayStation poster (1 of 30 possible designs), and a paperclip;
- PlayStation 5 Digital Edition Console – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle: Includes the PlayStation 5 Digital Limited Edition console with 1TB SSD and matching limited edition accessories – the DualSense wireless controller and a disc drive cover (disc drive sold separately). Also includes the vertical stand and collector’s items from the PlayStation 5 Pro bundle.
Limited Edition Standalone Products:
- PlayStation Portal Remote Player – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition;
- DualSense Edge Wireless Controller – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition;
- DualSense Wireless Controller – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition;
Hideaki Nishimo, CEO of SIE, said that since the launch of the brand's first console, PlayStation has gone through five fantastic generations of consoles, always keeping up with the evolution of technology. "In the early days, games had around 300,000 pixels, while now they exceed 8 million on 4K screens.", he said. He added that "the sound went from stereo to surround, and we are currently using 3D audio". Also "the controls have undergone a major transformation," added Nishino.
"Everything we've done, we've done to ensure that PlayStation is the best place to play", he said further. "At SIE, we believe that the beginning of our journey is an important part of our history, which is why we celebrate this moment and commemorate the last 30 years of the brand by bringing the original PlayStation design theme to the latest products in the PlayStation 5 family.", he added.
On PlayStation Direct, fans will be able to pre-order the full collection starting September 26:

The DualSense wireless controller – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition will be available for pre-order at regular points of sale on September 26, while the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle console can be pre-ordered from October 10.
