Paraguayan swimmer Luana Alonso, who was already in the beginning of the Paris Olympics by several media as one of the most beautiful athletes of the games, had to leave her expedition involuntarily. The Paraguayan Olympic Committee strongly requested it.
The appearance of the 20-year-old athlete at the Olympic Games cannot be considered a success, because she said goodbye to them on the very first day.
The Paraguayan took 6th place in the 100 m butterfly race and did not advance to the semi-finals. Shortly after that, she confirmed that it was her last Olympics and race ever.
“Swimming: thank you for letting me dream, for teaching me to fight, to strive, to endure, to sacrifice, discipline and many other things.
I gave you a piece of my life and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world,” she wrote on Instagram, where, despite the small number of posts, she is followed by more than half a million people.
After fulfilling her competitive duties, Alonso remained in Paris with the Paraguayan team.
She stayed in the Olympic Village where she slept, ate and had fun, but also visited the city, the Eiffel Tower and even went to the local Disneyland, documenting it all on her social media.
This was also noticed by the media, which prompted the Paraguayan Olympic Committee to react vigorously. They should have sent an email to the swimmer asking her to leave the Olympic village immediately.
Just a few minutes after the aforementioned news appeared in the media, the head of the Paraguayan mission, Larissa Schaererová, issued a statement in which she noted that the Olympian had granted their request.
“Her presence created an inappropriate atmosphere in the Paraguayan team. We thank her for following our instructions as she volunteered to spend another night outside the Olympic Village right after our call,” the statement said. How exactly she created the mentioned “inappropriate atmosphere”, Schaererová did not specify.
Meanwhile, Alonso returned overseas. Although some media wrote that the blonde wants to use her attractive appearance to make money through her social networks, now the former swimmer has other plans.
“I will be attending a university in the United States where I want to continue studying political science,” she said, adding that she would also like to promote sports more in society.
