Audi Q4 e-tron, BMW iX1, Mercedes-Benz EQA, Volvo EX40 – these are only the premium electric compact leisure vehicles of European brands, and we haven’t even talked about the rapidly growing contingent from China.
The Polestar 7, the latest model of the Chinese-Swedish car manufacturer, will arrive in this highly important market segment soon – in principle in 2027 at the latest – which, so far, has only been revealed that it will be a compact SUV that will be produced in Europe.
We should add that the new model is obviously made with a purely electric powertrain, like all models of the brand. It is also likely that it will be produced at Volvo’s production plant in Kassi, which is currently under construction.
The plant announced in 2022, representing an investment value of 1.2 billion euros, and planned for a capacity of a quarter of a million (!) units per year, was 60 percent ready last summer, and production is expected to start at the end of 2026. This coincides with the fact that the introduction of the Polestar 7 was originally promised by the manufacturer for 2027.
The Polestar 7 is expected to be based on the brand’s latest 800V electric architecture, and timing-wise it will certainly be a close relative of the next-generation Volvo EX40.
