Police officers are being investigated for digging up the cobblestones at Christiania

The Independent Police Complaints Authority (DUP) is investigating a case in which officers from the Copenhagen Police are accused of digging up cobblestones from Pusher Street in Christiania and putting them in bags.

This is confirmed by the Copenhagen Police to TV 2 Kosmopol.

The case stems from a video which, according to the media, was recorded on 2 April this year.

That was four days before the official unveiling of Pusher Street took place.

Minister of Justice Peter Hummelgaard (S) and Copenhagen’s then Lord Mayor Sophie Hæstorp Andersen (S) participated, among others.

At the session attended by the politicians, the first paving stone was dug up by a Christianite.

The case about the officers has been reported to the DUP by the Copenhagen Police itself, writes TV 2 Kosmopol

According to the media, the officers have been filmed in connection with an action where the police cleared Pusher Street.

The DUP confirms that it is investigating the matter to TV 2 Kosmopol.

When the DUP has completed its investigation, the police appeals authority will send a report to the State Attorney.

It is up to the State Attorney whether the case should lead to criminal proceedings against someone.

When the statement is expected is unknown.

It is not known what happened to the cobblestones in question after the police dug them up.

For many years Pusher Street was known to have a market for the sale of hashish. But in 2023, the residents of Christiania decided that the street should be closed.
