In the past week, a neighborhood has been hit by what is believed to be an international fraud method, which the police are now warning about.
From what is known so far, the fraud attempts have affected around ten neighbors in Bromma. All of them have received fake orders where they received packages from an e-commerce giant without having ordered anything from there. The packages have been addressed to the households but to unknown people who do not seem to be there. This is reported by P4 Stockholm.

The fraudster wants to steal bank details
What it’s all about is believed to be a so-called “brushing scam” that has recently attracted attention in the rest of Europe.
The packages have contained mixed products such as pens, mugs and shampoo. It can be a way for the fraudster to get fake product reviews and then increased sales. But there also seem to be ways for them to access the recipient’s mobile and bank details.
– The purpose could be to collect card details or to download some malicious code on your device that could make it possible to take it over, says Lotta Mauritzon at the police to P4 Stockholm.

So they can access card information
If you suspect that you have received a fake order according to this method, it is important to contact the company and inform them of the suspicions. What is most important for yourself is to never scan QR codes if the package has one. In this way, they can get hold of your bank and card details.
