Political crisis in the neighbourhood! President Zurabishvili: I do not recognize the elections

Reactions continue after the ruling Georgian Dream Party won the general elections held in Georgia yesterday with 53.9 percent of the votes. Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, who met with the leaders of the opposition parties at the Presidential Palace, made statements after the meeting. President Zurabishvili said, “First of all, I would like to say a big thank you to all the voters who voted for Georgia’s European future. You were too many, you won these elections and no one has the right to take away our European future. The elections held on October 26 were completely fraudulent. Technology was used to hide the fraud.” “There has never been anything like this before. Russia-style elections were held. Many things should be investigated,” he said.

“WE WILL NOT GIVE UP THE RIGHT TO HOLD DEMOCRATIC ELECTIONS”

Inviting the public to the rally to be held on Rustaveli Street, the center of the capital Tbilisi, Zurabishvili said, “We want to invite you to Rustaveli Street tomorrow evening at 19.00. Let’s declare together in front of the world that we do not recognize these elections. We will not give up the right to hold democratic elections. This is a symbolic event.” “There will be a march, all of us together,” he said.

According to the results of the Central Election Commission, the ruling Georgian Dream Party won the elections held yesterday for the first time in Georgia with proportional representation and electronic voting, with 53.93 percent. Four more opposition parties passed the 5 percent threshold and entered the parliament. However, opposition parties announced that they did not recognize the election results, that the elections were “faked” and that they would not enter the parliament.
