The Socialist Party has a slight lead over the Democratic Alliance, according to the latest pollwave from the Catholic University to RTP. Statistically, the PS and AD are technically tied (the PS garnering between 30 and 36% of the votes and the AD with a result between 28 and 34%). Even so, the socialists have the advantage, with 33% of voting intentions. In May, the Catholic poll for RTP estimated 29% for the PS. The Democratic Alliance now has 31%, having also increased by one percentage point compared to the result of two months ago.
The PS and AD together add five more points (64%), the same number of points that Chega drops. It is also worth noting that the right remains in the majority.
Chega continues to be the third political force (14%), but down compared to the May poll (around 19%).
The Liberal Initiative managed a slight increase, from 5 to 7%. In opposition, the Livre party went from 5 to 3%. At the time of the opinion poll (that is, between 7 and 13 July 2024), the Bloco de Esquerda had 4% of voters’ preferences; the CDU, 3%; and the PAN, 2%.
