Porsche promises three types of engines for the next generation Cayenne

Porsche announces that the next generation of the Cayenne SUV will be available in several versions, including purely electric.

The German manufacturer has already started tests for the fourth generation of the largest SUV in its range. The current generation Cayenne, which last year received one of the most extensive product updates in Porsche history, will be further developed.

Porsche says it will focus, among other things, on powertrains, particularly improving the efficiency of the V8 engine. The technical measures will ensure that the twin-turbo V8 engine is ready to meet future legislative requirements.

The new generation Porsche Cayenne keeps the petrol engines

Many manufacturers, including Porsche, have realized that the transition to electric cars is not as easy as originally thought, so they are rethinking their future plans. Many of them have said that they will produce heat engines as long as it is possible and customers want them

Porsche announces that the next generation of the Cayenne SUV, which will debut after 2025, will be available with three types of engine. Thus, customers will be able to choose gasoline variants, plug-in hybrids or fully electric versions.

The electric version of the Cayenne will be built on an evolution of the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) architecture currently used by the Porsche Macan electric and the Audi Q6 e-tron. This platform is built on an 800V architecture, which allows for higher charging powers and increased efficiency.

“The flexibility of the PPE architecture allows us to integrate the latest technology in the areas of high voltage systems, powertrain and chassis. We will use the potential of electrification to take the Cayenne to a completely new level in several ways – for example in terms of dynamic performance,” says Michael Steiner, Member of the Executive Board for Research and Development at Porsche AG.
