Developed for the 1973 season, the Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 2.8 begins its career with a triumph, winning the Corsica rally at the end of 1972, winning the Daytona 24-hour race in February 1973, and then with a 3.0 liter engine (310 HP, top speed of 270 km/h ) and equipped with rebuilt chassis, it tries its luck in the machine class of prototypes. In May, it takes third place at the Targa Florio, and in June – again equipped with the original 2.8-liter engine, it competes in the 24 Hours of Le Mans GT class. The extremely versatile construction will serve as a test vehicle for further development for a while, then it will be repainted in the combat colors used in the Targa Florio race and retired in the factory museum.
The Italian coffee machine specialist La Marzocco chose this supernova of Porsche’s motorsport history as the aesthetic starting point for a limited edition espresso machine.
Just like the model from fifty years ago, the special design of the Linea Micra can be chosen in two colors: one is the gray (Slate Gray Neo) design shown in the museum photos above, and the other is the Italian Martini Racing stable’s iconic dark blue-light blue-red banding.
The collaboration did not come about by chance: La Marzocco, founded in 1927, is considered a great innovator in the coffee machine industry, the company still continues to assemble by hand, and in addition to household and catering espresso machines, they also offer grinders and other accessories at a rather steep price. .
The steam and hot water levers of the espresso machine, which is available in the stylish 911 model, are modeled after the mode selector switch of Porsche, the colors of the drip tray and the cup warmer are inspired by the Porsche 911 GT3 with the Touring package, the portafilter arm and the rotary levers are made of anodized aluminum, the screws are black .
Anything that bears the name of Porsche automatically represents a higher market value, and this is also true in this case: while the entry price of the field versions of the La Marzocco Linea Micra, which can even be controlled from a smartphone app, is 2,800 euros net, i.e. HUF 1.1 million, the You have to pay at least 4,950 euros, i.e. two million forints at the current exchange rate, for the limited series, which can be ordered in Porsche centers and online stores, as well as in Porsche Design warehouses.
