The Portuguese footballers secured their place in the quarter-finals in the A-Division of the Nations League on Friday.
It was decided by their 5:1 triumph over Poland, goals secured in the 2nd half by Rafael Leao, Bruno Fernandes, Pedro Neto and twice by Cristiano Ronaldo.
Together with them, the Croatians also had a chance to progress from the 1st group, a draw with Scotland was enough for them. However, they did not manage the duel, losing 0:1 after John McGinn’s goal.
In the 4th group, the already certain advancing Spaniards succeeded in Denmark 2:1. Monday’s duel between Serbia and Denmark will decide the second place. The Swiss can no longer advance, they drew 1:1 with the Serbs.
The Cypriots retained their membership in the C-Division for next year as well. They beat Lithuania 3:1 at home.
The Lithuanians will surely finish in 4th place, and the last 6th round will decide whether they will go down directly to the D-division or face a playoff to stay in the “céček”.
Romania’s duel with Kosovo was interrupted in the extra time of the second half due to a 0:0 draw after rioting by the fans.
