Portugal exhausts its quota of curved rays and fishing is prohibited

Fishing for the curved ray is prohibited from 00:00 on Friday, after Portugal exhausted its catch quota, announced the General Directorate of Natural Resources, Security and Maritime Services (DGRM).

“(…) Fishing, maintenance on board, transshipment and unloading of catches of the species is prohibited (…), from 00:00 on October 11, 2024”, reads a note from DGRM. .

The decision was based on the level of discharges carried out by the Portuguese curved ray fleet in the union waters of subzone nine (Portuguese waters).

The fishing quota allocated to Portugal has already been exhausted.

The DGRM is a central service of the State’s direct administration, with administrative autonomy, whose objective is the development of maritime security and services, the implementation of fishing policies and the preservation of resources.
