BarcelonaThe atmosphere of midsummer has been maintained these last few hours, but without the extremes of the last few days thanks to the drop in temperatures inside. A situation that will remain similar for Friday and the beginning of the weekend with calm, sun, heat and swelter and tropical nights. A normal scenario for the season, but watch out because the thermometers will shoot up between Sunday and next week. As the maps currently indicate, it is likely that the month of July will be dismissed with a heat wave, the first of the summer in the whole of Catalonia, with up to 40 °C or more for several days in the interior .
Friday: little change
We will wake up again after a tropical night and a bad night’s sleep near the sea. Minimums that will not fall below 20 °C in some areas of the interior, especially in the south and west. Maximum temperatures will remain similar and in many cases will range between 31°C and 36°C. Locally, 37 °C or 38 °C can be reached in the Lleida plain and in the interior of Lleida, while on the coast the protagonist will be the scorching heat. Full summer atmosphere without extremes with sun and only some local afternoon showers in the Pyrenees.
Saturday: midsummer day
It will be a very warm day, but again without extremes. Temperatures will rise in the north of the country during the day, with maximums that in the territory as a whole will continue to range between 31 °C and 36 °C, locally higher in Ponent and in the interior of the Ebro. The sun will dominate with virtually no exceptions and the minimum temperatures will remain very mild, with tropical nights that will repeat near the sea and in parts of the south and the plain of Lleida.
Sunday: strong heat returns
Temperatures will begin to rise more eagerly, especially indoors. 39 °C or 40 °C can already be reached again in Ponent and in the interior of the Ebro. Midsummer atmosphere with intense heat and total calm. Last day of the weekend with hot weather and to take advantage.
Possible heat wave
The maps maintain that the thermometers will soar at the beginning of next week. A burst of very warm air coming from North Africa will hit us hard with suspended dust and lots of heat. Since this situation can last between three and four days with temperatures well above normal, we could be in front of the first heat wave of the summer in Catalonia as a whole, since we have had heat peaks so far with exceptional values that have lasted at most two days in a row.
It will be possible to reach 40 °C in several parts of the interior, but locally these figures will be exceeded, especially in Ponent and the Ebro. Therefore, the month of July will be dismissed with very intense heat. A situation that we still have to narrow down and confirm. The temperature would return to normal during the first days of August.
