Practical tips for seasonally changing the arrangement of clothes in the wardrobe without going crazy

Here we are, again: the season is changing, and with it, a terrible wardrobe change awaits us.

However, not all evil has to go wrong.

If done at the right time, with the right mood, and with some calm-saving measures, it could prove not only easier and faster than expected, but even a source of new order (physical and mental), fun and even extra money.

You don’t believe it?

Here are 10 tips on how to deal with the seasonal change in the arrangement of clothes in the closet on a practical and psychological level, without making a drama out of it.

On the contrary: turning a usually unpleasant moment (almost) into a game.

We have to finally get rid of that sweater that we love so much, but which is now unacceptable.

And say goodbye to all those clothes “maybe if I lose three kilos…”

For a change of clothes, adopt a good philosophy of depositing, eliminating the excess that now drips everywhere. First of all, in the wardrobe.

To proceed with a safe removal, ask yourself the following three questions:

1) Did I wear it this year?

2) Does it suit me?

3) Do I have at least two other items of clothing with which I could combine them?

If you have more NO answers, throw them away without regret!

The redundant could be a source of good fun. As well as some kind of entertainment or a surprising source of income, if you organize a swap party with your friends or sell what you no longer use.

Without having to organize a swap party, you can opt for the basic (and seemingly free) option: grab a few friends and go. Or digital exchange.

There are many apps where we exchange, buy and sell what we discarded during the wardrobe change. Just type the keyword into the search engine!

Iron the clothes well before putting them away, then fold them well, in the so-called origami style.

Even the rolling technique saves space and is less stressful.

If you want the ultimate visual harmony, focus on a vertical arrangement: it will help you have a complete view of the wardrobe, thus helping you to create the perfect arrangement of clothes.

A clean, tidy and simplified wardrobe is a mirror of an equally clean and tidy mind.

Ironing, folding and stacking trousers, skirts, sweaters and so on is equal to taking care of your belongings (and therefore also of yourself).

An infallible trick? Recreate the showroom effect!

Place the accessory and hang the clothes like in boutiques, slightly exposed and taking care of the arrangement on an aesthetic level.

The best friend of the dressing room? Box.

Get them in lots and in different shapes. Different sizes, depending on the clothes and accessories that are packed, but also different colors, to better remind us where we put this pair of jeans.

Therefore, the following must not be missing: colored boxes; small boxes (for accessories such as handbags, shoes, belts and scarves); medium boxes (for trousers, skirts, sweaters, shirts, etc.).

Then obviously those in maxi format. In large boxes you can put coats, coats, jackets, robes and anything very bulky.

But before you even enter the dressing room, take four boxes.

On one, write us “to throw”; on the second “date”; on the third “in doubt” and on the last “to fix”. In this way, you will create a truly flattering separate collection of clothes.

Well, yes: when you change the wardrobe in the closet yourself, it’s deadly boring. Ask a friend to help you and you will turn a stressful moment into real fun.

A little music, hot herbal tea (or something a little hotter), lots of laughs as you try and try old things that are out of date. As well as the top clothes of your wardrobe!

You will look forward to the next season to repeat the wardrobe change in your favorite company.

The right day is very important. You must choose it carefully, avoiding days of the week with a high risk of stress.

There is no Monday, absolutely no Sunday (because Sunday melancholy will not help) and days when you are tired are absolutely forbidden.

Take a day off to fully commit to your wardrobe, using the opportunity to take care of your home and yourself.

Or on Saturday, and then recharge yourself with energy on Sunday enjoying your perfect wardrobe!

The temptation is to arrange one section at a time to avoid too much chaos. But resist it!

You have to create disorder in order to create order. So, the advice is: empty all the drawers and cupboards, then put everything back on the bed, clearly visible.

Divide into fleets by type of clothing. The most important thing is to separate jackets from shirts, pants from skirts and so on to avoid the chaos that you will plunge into later, when you have to choose your wardrobe well.

Having everything in view on the bed will also help you see what you have as a whole and see through any duplicates.

Keep a journal of your wardrobe supplies. Have you ever thought about it? Besides being a nice idea, it will help you notice the things you have.

A closet list will save you from buying duplicates. And also to learn something very important: giving importance to the things we own.

A bit like keeping a food diary while on a diet, a wardrobe diary will help you resist over-purchasing.

It’s a great trick and you’ll always know what to wear, allowing you to easily mix and match on paper (diary).

With every wardrobe change, you should never indulge in the “no, I refuse to throw this away!”

But we know it’s impossible to do that, so let’s at least set limits: let’s save a maximum of two fashion pieces that make our heart beat faster (but honestly, you won’t even wear them this year).

In addition, another category is clothing that has a certain meaning on an emotional level.

The dress you wore on your first date with your boyfriend; a pair of jeans that faithfully followed you on every trip; the jacket in which you applied for the job you dreamed of and which has now become your office…

These clothes are untouchable, so they should not be thrown away. But it should not be mixed with clothes that are often used.

So get a big box and put it in there, carefully separating it with fleece paper.

It will be your fashion memory!
