Premier victory at the right time. Yates pulled back the loss on the leader of the Vuelta – Cycling

British cyclist Adam Yates from the UAE Team Emirates triumphed in Sunday’s 9th stage of the Vuelta.

In the mountain stage with a total length of 178.2 km from Motril to Grenada, he achieved his first victory in this race.

He was ahead of the second Ecuadorian Richard Carapaza by 1:39 minutes. Australian Ben O’Connor from the Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team finished in third place, maintaining his position as the current overall leader.

In Sunday’s stage, the cyclists completed challenging climbs in Andalusia. They had to climb the steep hill Alto de Hazallanas twice and completed three climbs of the first category. They conquered a total of 4486 meters.
