DAPURPACUID – President Joko Widodo took the time to attend and open the 2024 Mandalika MotoGP event at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, Central Lombok, Sunday (29/9).
President Jokowi also expressed his appreciation for the development and success of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia in the last three years, which according to him is getting better.
“I see that developments in the past 3 years have been very good, especially in terms of better management, the facilities also seem to be getting better,” he said, quoted from the Press, Media and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat.
President Jokowi also appreciated the involvement of local workers in this international automotive event, which in its third year involved around three thousand personnel crews.
“I am happy that all the crew involved here (Mandalika Circuit) come from West Nusa Tenggara. “That’s what I’m happy about,” he added on the sidelines of the opening of the premier class racing event.
The race was dramatic
The 2024 Mandalika MotoGP match was quite exciting, because in the first lap 4 riders immediately died because they collided at the ‘horror’ corner on the circuit.
Throughout the race a total of 9 riders did not finish the race, one of them from the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, namely Fabio Di Giannantonio.
Luckily his teammate, Marco Bezzecchi, was able to finish the race and managed to reach fifth position at the finish line.
Pertamina’s VP Corporate Communication, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, said that even though the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team racers in this race had not succeeded in getting on the podium, they had been able to get encouraging results.
“Even though this home race the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team racers have not yet reached the podium, the results are still very good. “Hopefully the performance in the following series will be even better,” he concluded.
The series of Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2024 events closed with the presentation of trophies to the MotoGP winners by President Jokowi. (dpid/TH)
