President of the Brazilian Supreme Court wants to hold those who attack democracy accountable – World

The President of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) of Brazil, Luís Barroso, stated, this Thursday, that the suicide attack on Wednesday night reinforces the need to hold everyone responsible for attacking democracy.

In a plenary session at the STF, one day after the suicide attack with an explosive in front of the Federal Supreme Court and a few meters from the presidential palace and Congress, Luís Barroso stressed that the attack adds to a series of incidents that occurred in the country and which culminated in the attacks by radical extremists on the headquarters of the Three Powers on January 8, 2023.

In his opinion, there is a “naturalization of the absurd” that encourages these behaviors.
