Amazon streaming service Prime Video has announced a new update that will improve the user interface, including with the help of AI-generated recommendations.
According to Amazon, a new update for its in-house streaming service Prime Video is being rolled out today, which will gradually become available to all customers over the next few weeks. The changes affect navigation through the numerous contents and serve to improve personal recommendations using AI support. A more direct overview of all content that is available at no additional cost has also been announced.
New navigation bar for Prime Video
As part of the update, the revised navigation bar is divided into the areas “Homepage”, “Films”, “Series”, “Sport” and “Live TV”. Active additional subscriptions such as DAZN or Paramount+ should also be found there. Amazon has also said it has created a new “Prime” section in the navigation bar. This shows all content (films, series, sports, etc.) that is included in the Prime membership at no additional cost, as well as exclusive deals.
The so-called Hero Rotator will be located directly under the navigation bar and will provide an overview of all content that requires an additional subscription or is available to rent or buy. With the update, the management of active additional subscriptions and offers from third-party providers will also be done via the navigation bar in the future.
Update for all devices
Amazon is particularly promoting its generative AI system. This is primarily intended to improve personalized recommendations. The basis for this is the AWS service “Amazon Bedrock”. Additional categories such as “Top 10 in Germany” or “Popular Series” are intended to make the search even easier. In the future, the title cards of the respective films and series will contain the corresponding logos to make it immediately visible which subscription the content comes from.
Amazon is also promoting new animations, smoother page transitions and zoom effects for Prime Video. When using a smart TV, a scrolling rotation automatically plays in the main window as part of the update. Recommended linear channels are also played automatically under “Live TV”.
The new user interface will be rolled out to all devices on which Amazon Prime Video is available.
