Princess Leonor, daughter of the kings of Spain, embarked on a six-month mission at sea in the service of her country’s Navy.
The training ship “Juan Sebastián Elcano” left Cádiz, on Saturday, for a trip with a scheduled stopover in several cities on the American continent.
The 19-year-old Princess of Asturias continues her military training and the match was attended by King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia.
“There are many mothers crying. It will be many months without seeing her,” Queen Letizia told reporters.
King Felipe XV said the farewell was “very emotional”.
The princess of Asturias visited Portugal on July 12 last year, in what was the first official trip abroad for the eldest daughter of the kings of Spain.
