The Spanish firm has just started production of the new Cupra Terramar at the Audi factory in Györ, Hungary.

A collaboration between Audi and Seat / Cupra

Within the Volkswagen group, this is not the first time that Audi and Seat have worked together: in fact, in 2011, the Audi Q3 was manufactured in the Seat factory in Martorell, near Barcelona in Spain. Nearly 800,000 examples were produced there, but also 400,000 examples of the Audi A1 from 2018. This time, theusine de Györ is the first Audi production site to assemble vehicles from another brand of the German group.

Our ability to adapt and the synergies within the Volkswagen Group made this project possible”declared on this occasion Markus Haupt, Vice-President for Production and Logistics at Cupra: “This clearly illustrates how joining forces benefits everyone, making us more competitive and paving the way for future collaborations, which will allow us to continue to grow.”

Cupra Terramar: electrified engines

The site has more than 12,000 employeesfor a production capacity of more than 170,000 vehicles per yearand more 1.6 million engines : Györ is quite simply the largest engine factory in the world. Produced alongside the Audi Q3the new Cupra Terramar benefits from process optimization at this Audi plant in Hungary.
A strategic model for Cupra in the compact SUV market, the new Terramar pays homage to the Terramar racing circuit in Sitges, near Barcelona in Spain, where the Spanish firm was first unveiled.
The Cupra Terramar is equipped with three electrified engines : the 1.5 liter eTSI with 48 V mild hybridization of 150 horsepower, as well as the eHybrid plug-in hybrid engine, available in two versions of 204 and 272 horsepower and associated with a 19.7 kWh net battery, allowing 100% autonomy electric for more than 100 km. All engines are associated with a DSG double-clutch gearbox, with 6 or 7 speeds depending on the version.

Orders for the Cupra Terramar are already open, at prices starting from €47,500and the first deliveries are expected for the last quarter 2024.
