Production of the Cupra Terramar has begun

Everything is ready for the new Cupra Terramar to start its attack on the European market. The Spaniards believe that the long-awaited SUV is destined to play a leading role in the ambitious strategic plan that the Spanish company launched some time ago.

Unfortunately or happily for Ateca fans, the new Terramar will have to take its place after its farewell.

The new Terramar does not bear the “Made in Spain” stamp. This SUV is produced outside the Spanish borders. Terramar is produced in Hungary. More precisely, in the vehicle production center located in Djer, and this factory was not chosen by chance, he writes Klix.ba.

Audi is responsible for the production of the new Terramar. And it’s no surprise that the Spanish SUV is produced in this facility, instead of Seat’s Spanish plant in Martorello. It should be noted that the Hungarian vehicle production center already produces the Audi Q3, and the new Terramar is closely related to this Audi model.

The Volkswagen Group decided to take advantage of the fact that both models are based on the same platform and share many components in order to save on costs. Đer will thus become the first Audi factory to produce vehicles for another Volkswagen Group brand.

These are key steps, both for Audi itself and for the rest of the German automotive conglomerate. Đer is also the largest engine factory in the world. More than 170,000 vehicles and 1.6 million engines are produced here every year.

The new Terramar is available with gasoline engines, some of which are electrified with 48-volt mild hybrid technology (MHEV), and some are offered in a plug-in hybrid version (PHEV). The price of the entry-level model in the EU starts at around 38,000 euros. If everything goes according to plan, the first deliveries to customers will be made at the beginning of November.
